Praise God for Dr. White!!!

Plain and simple... Dr. Caner needs to study!!! For some reason, Caner did not want to continue in these debates. I wonder why?

by His Grace alone,

(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

Bill, you and i both know a local preacher who did the same thing with that Romans passage as Caner did in a sermon last summer, totally ignoring it, while trying to "prove" decisional regeneration. And to top it all off, having the temerity to quote Pelagius, as though the old heretic was a valid contributor to orthodoxy.

Yes, Unfortunatly my last pastor just skipped right over these scriptures. Like they don't even exist.

Now, quoting Pelagius as a valid contributor to christian orthodoxy is absurd. Do these preachers do any serious study of the word and history? Quoting heritics as truth and reformers as liars! I think not!

I read my dad the same passage yesterday and he couldn't say much, but quickly stopped talking..lol. Only the Elect are are saved...way before they've done anything wrong or right.

Eph 1.4 Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will.

Yeah Sam, that same local minister took Ben aside and told him not to be like Kenny, because I wasn't "open" to learn...lol. I cracked up when I heard that!!

hmm for 6 years in a role before and after receiving education in video production...I tried to get them to purchase new macs to get out of the stone age. I bought books produced by pro's..and taught camera moves and shots...volunteered on movie sets just to come back to give back what I learned...so how isn't open? lol Shame on them!!

Ok enough...I'm actually glad that I don't have to be occupied anymore during the Lord's Day...because I can hear the messages and I'm glad to not be around people that don't want to move ahead in a Protestant way.

"Only the Elect are are saved...way before they've done anything wrong or right."

Correction, read almost that they are saved before the foundations of the world before salvation is actually applied, but what I mean is Election happens before any kind of "works" lol

i heard a message just yesterday quoting 1 Pet 1:2: "who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance."

the pastor turned it around and said "we're chosen according to our choice"

Sad.

God is sovereign in salvation. Systematically election runs through the entire bible after the FAll. Noah, Abraham, children of Israel, etc, because God didn't choose everyone.

I feel sad about that pastor's comments about free choice, because I'm humble enough to say that a few years ago or more that I probably would of said the same thing.

Thank God that I got my hands on some Spurgeon sermons..specially his stuff on Justification and Election!

Sad, these preachers don't even know what foreknowledge means!

You're right Ken. i would've said the same thing too a few years ago. it is sad about this particular pastor, because he's a very loving and humble servant of God. i hope the younger generation gets to him...there are a number of younger folks in his church who are being attracted to reformed doctrine...through Mark Driscoll.

My heart breaks for these pastors, especially the humble ones. I pray that the Lord will remove the blinders from there eyes so that they embrace sound doctrine, just as God through his Grace has so mercifully done for us.

He probably won't change. As in our other church Sam, it's impossible to put new wine into old wine skins, because those old skins can't expand with the fermantation in the new wine.

Driscol, Wilson, Piper(sermons) etc are good intro's to Reformed thinking, but they really need to dig deeper into Protestant Reformed Theology.

Wilson, Horton only wetted my taste buds for it and I need more that has come from Hodge, Gaffin, Van Til, Berkhoff, Kuyper, Augustin, Calvin..etc...lol

Wow!

Can't understand what runs through someones mind when they make a comment like that.

James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.

Oh No!

Ken e,
I wouldn't be so sure that the pastor can't change. It may be too late however, God can do whatever he wills! Just because we may believe someone is past understanding we are still called to obey his words and witness to others. Also, to pray for the lost. It may be too late for them but, since we don't know, we don't stop. Also, for those of you who follow Driscoll, please be careful. If you truly hear his sermons they are not from someone who has the heart of Christ. I know it's easy to want to believe someone is saved because, they believe in the doctrine of election but, that is just simply not the case. False prophets are going to come in many colors. Satan is by no means all powerful but, he is not stupid either. He will place his own in positions we least expect.
