The loss of the Gospel in American Churches Today.

I am truly saddened by the absence of the gospel in our churches today. Strategies of evangelism, building mega churches and seeker sensitive mush have become the norm. What about the gospel? Nothing but the gospel!

Go ye into all the world and build mega churches? Go ye into all the world and preach a seeker sensitive gospel? Go ye into all the world and raise money for your own ministry? Go ye into all the world and preach a positive message? Go ye into all the world and repackage the gospel?

No!!! Mar 16:15 says:

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

In this video Paul Washer addresses the loss of the Gospel in our American churches, with no apology...

He is saying some good stuff! But I will say this that I'm not against the Mega-church though, because in big cities it has always happened. Spurgeon, Acts..etc.

I get worried about the Missional stuff, because it's just a different package of the Emergent crap that is going on, but sometimes-in the name of Reformation theology!

Most people that I've noticed that are into the Missional stuff. Remember also that Emergent uses the Missional label too. Generally, these people are fad driven, program driven and personality driven. I get worried about that, because I've seen youth ministries that have turned into that to gain numbers.

We don't need new sacraments to show us the bible....but the ones that were only given in Scripture alone....!

Ken,

Yes I agree. I also am not against having a mega-chruch. My concern is that a great majority of the mega-churches today, do not preach the gospel, but another Jesus, they use gimmicks and contextualization of scripture, no theology and no mention of repentance and daily cross.

Spurgeon, Acts etc... grew because the gospel was preached. They did not use gimmicks, they did not contextualize, theology mattered, and repentance and daily cross was the plea.

The Emergent garbage does trouble me also and the Missional label has been greatly abused for the sake of numbers.

Sola Scriptura is essential for evangelism..

Thanks for the good comments. I appreciate you always!!

Yup exactly! Most of those churches and a lot of mainline evangelical/charismatic aren't taught about Justification by faith alone, which is the central theme of the Gospel. Instead, decisions are made and Jesus is stuffed in the pumper(the heart).
