This is disappointing to me.. Had I known that there was a handbook for compensation plans for church positions... I might have investigated and found that I was really under paid by not taking any pay for Music/Choir Director and Part-time Musician/Vocalist positions, in some of the churches that I have been on staff at... I totally missed out on thousands of dollars.. I was really naive and did not realize it was such a business!!!

However, I probably would not have known that this was true. Since I was not getting paid at these churches, how would I have been able to purchase this handbook? Was C.H Spurgeon and A.W. Pink concerned about these matters? Was Jesus? Things that make you go hmmm!!!

by His Grace alone,

Bill

I heard that all the money the Billy Graham Assoc spends on crusades and such that only 3 percent of the people that actually make a "decision" get connected with local churches. The Proclamation of the gospel should happen every week inside the 4 walls of the church, which runs contrary to modern evangelicalism(finney included).

Yes, I always hear stories about these big events/crusades. Hundreds/Thousands "accepted Christ". Yet the local churches in the area are not busting down walls to make more room for all of these converts. If this was really happening, these churches would not have to ask for money all to time either. Same with christian TV, "Millions are coming to the Lord every year." If so then where in this planet are they being discipled??? They would no longer have to ask for $$ either.. There would be massive amounts of givers!!!

ministers get salaries???

;-)

out of 28 yrs of fulltime ministry, i have had a salary (of any significance) for maybe half of those years. and even when i didn't have any money coming in, i was still accused of "being in it for the money!" so there's a lot of foolishness on both ends of the spectrum on this issue.

i do think if any comparisons are to be made salary-wise, it should be that a pastor's income should be commensurate with the average salary of his congregation and not with other pastor's incomes.
