Christianity in Crisis Video of the Week - Whisper His Name

There is NOTHING deep about this little ditty. This song makes it sound like he's your little doggy. This is similar another typical God is my girlfriend/boyfriend song that is so consuming our churches today. And this song is even worse because it turns God into your own personal pet, at your beck and call.

Whisper His name. (Fido) Whisper His name. (Fido)
Whisper His name. (Fido) And He will bark at You (Come to You). (Repeat)

Call out His name. (Fido) Call out His name. (Fido)
Call out His name. (Fido) And He will come to You. (Repeat)

Shout out His name. (Fido) Shout out His name. (Fido)
Shout out His name. (Fido) And He will run to You. (Repeat)

For when we lose our stinkin' minds
And when we fall down on our heads
Its then we sing to God like he's a dog, Here boy!

This song is very typical of what is considered worship today. Songs are wrote and sung with no thought of the Holy God. He is not our boyfriend/girlfriend nor our personal pet. He is creator of the Universe and is not subject to our beck and call like some puppy dog! It is unthinkable that we can put this kind of shallow offering before a Holy God.

By His Grace Alone,

Bill

I got half way through this song. 'Nuff said! the part that says lose our minds, well there you go that says it all. So do they sing this at Amazing Grace? If they aren't rest assured they will be!

I'm not sure if they do in church or at the youth group, but I think I have heard something to the effect that this song is floating around there... It is also floating around the whole Apostolic movement. It has become popular very quick.. They love these type of songs...
