Life Coach ??? Motivational Speaker??? Is the Gospel a fortune cookie???

Does a life coach preach repentance, death to self, daily cross? Does having a positive outlook on life make you heaven bound?... Are sinners really sinners? Or do they already know they are sinners without being told that they have broken God's laws? Does preaching truth to lost souls beat them down? Or is that called conviction? Do we just read the scriptures that do not offend the masses, or do we read all scripture in its context and risk offending people? Are we wicked people in need of God's Grace or are we really not that bad?

The gospel is not a Happy Meal in which we get everything we could ever want in our churches: shake, fry, burger and toy, leaving happily, never convicted of our sin, never a thought of repentance ... neither is it our fortune cookie, giving us the desires of our flesh...wealth, health, prosperity!!!! Again, this is another example of the "Gospel of Self". Here is some of that CBS interview on 60 Minutes with Coach: Joel Osteen... This is completely the opposite of Jonathan Edwards message entitled "Sinners in the hands of an angry God"

by His grace alone,

Bill

I do NOT mean this as an Ad Homenim attack, but it is very clear that Joel Osteen does NOT have the slightest clue as to what scrpture is about; his absence of serious study in the scriptures is
obvious. No serious student of God's word, nor scholar gives Him any serious attention.

Joel Osteen has received his doctrine from self-help books just like his father and many other charismania types.

ah... Let's see...

Self Help vs. Death to Self!

Keep pointing them out to the sheep; Bill.

As with your attitude so goes your life....Joel went from Helps Ministry to Self-helps Minister. Instead of faith and sanctification..etc..conforming our lives to God's word. It's come down to positive thinking. If we can just think positive, be positive, and be New Age then one will have life(so called Christian growth). It's a bunch of happy faced Moralism and Perfectionism which will lead to Antinomianism, because a person can never measure up.

I agree Ken! It does indeed lead to antinomianism as does any message absent of Repentance, Obedience, and ultimately Conformity to Christ.

Predestined to Conform ro HIs Likeness (Romans 8),
